***ASH GRAY***

Ash Gray is a troubadour in the truest sense.

Born in US East Coast steeltown of Pittsburgh, the middle son of expat Yorkshire parents, he’s had an eye on the highway practically ever since he was old enough to play a gig.Raised in Austin, Texas – the Live Music Capital Of The World – Ash cut his musical teeth on the vibrant East Sixth Street, South Lamar and beyond, playing for tips in roots-rock bands like Roosterbilly and The Self-Righteous Brothers, the late 90s saw the emergence The High Class Family Butchers after time spent in London, time spent in New York City saw Ash scratching that hard-rock itch as guitarslinger with legendary Epic recording artists The Cycle Sluts From Hell before shifting gear, forming the acoustic folk-pop harmony band Ash Gray & The Girls in 2012.

Returning to the UK, Ash decided to rediscover his roots, eventually setting up base in Sheffield. Falling in with the Steel City’s own acoustic and Americana scene, Ash has been gigging regularly across the UK ever since, dividing his time fairly equally between Austin and Sheffield (and London and NYC as time allows). Taking his lead from one of Texas’ greatest musical sons, it seem Ash Gray just can’t wait to be on the road again.

***BOSS CAINE***

Boss Caine is the main musical vehicle of hard living, permanently gigging, story telling, troubadouring, award winning, UK singer songwriter, Daniel Lucas. He is often joined by any number of incredibly talented guest musicians.

Boss Caine released their debut album: ‘The Ship That Sailed’, on independent label Little Num Num Music, in 2010. The record contains a selection of tunes written by Lucas over the last few years; a time that saw him leave his home town for London, before returning to York and putting together the line-up of local musicians that would become Boss Caine. Years of hard living, hard drinking and love turned sour inform an album that at times visits some quite dark places, but is ultimately carried along by a healthy dose of Northern positivity and stoicism.

Follow up The Rhythm And The Rhyme brought further acclaim in 2012, and  brand new record Loved By Trouble, Troubled By Love was released early last year.

***JODY DAVIES***

If being in three bands wasn’t enough (The Fargo Railroad Co./King Quentin/A Prayer Away), Jody Davies airs a more stripped down set of songs in his performances of his solo material. Tonight with just his vintage Gibson J-45 (you may know her as Dolly), expect raw, heartfelt songs and to hear one or two of the stories behind them.

***PETE DAVID***

The Payroll Union are a four-piece Americana band with an obsession for American history. Inspired by country, rock ‘n’ roll and southern gothic, they formed in 2009. They recently released Devil Bug’s Dream, a companion to their 2015 album Paris Of America. Tonight front man Pete David plays a solo set.

and a late round up, but thanks to everybody that joined us at Shakespeares on Friday night, especially of course Franc Cinelli and M&J Blues, for the final WagonWheel Presents… of 2019. A great night’s music and a treat missed if you didn’t make it.

And that’s it until 2020, but we’ll be back for more then. We’ve got something good cooking for our first show of the new year, keep an eye on here or the Facebook and the Instagrams over the next few days for an announcement (or even just put Saturday January 25th in your diary now, you really won’t want to miss this).

made the night drive down to Shakespeares yesterday was certainly more than suitably rewarded. A wonderful evening with fine performances from M.G. Boulter and Banjo Jen was a perfect antidote to two months without a WagonWheel show. Big thanks to both acts and everybody that joined us.

We don’t have to wait quite so long until the next one, WagonWheel Presents… returns to The Greystones this Monday night September 23rd when John Statz brings his latest UK tour to Sheffield. Opening the show will be Andy P. Davison & The Soul Preachin’ Co. Full details for this one can be found here, we hope you can find your along too.
