On Saturday September 1st, WagonWheel Presents… welcomes The BearCats, Bob Collum & The Welfare Mothers and Ryan Farmer to The Greystones for what promises to be a special triple bill. Advance tickets priced at £5 are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/433727 and the venue (12-6pm), or entry on the night will be £6. Doors open 7.45pm.

***THE BEARCATS***

The BearCats are a four piece female fronted rockabilly / rock’n’roll / blues band from Sheffield. They play rock’n’roll roll like it should be played, gutsy & raw with tons of attitude.

***BOB COLLUM & THE WELFARE MOTHERS***

Go West young man! And so they did. Except for one guy, Bob Collum. He went East. Trading his home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma for the marshy plains of the Thames Estuary in Essex, bringing with him a country tinged power-pop with a healthy sense of irony.

Bob’s songs deliver a wry glimpse of life, love, death and …. Home decorating. All this is backed by the sensational Welfare Mothers. Although only one is a mother and none are on welfare at the moment, they remain the tightest band this side of the Thames Delta.

A turn of phrase to rank with Nick Lowe’s, and an instinct for hook and melody mean you’re thinking of the Byrd’s with a country edge to boot.Bucketfull Of Brains

***RYAN FARMER***

Ryan Farmer is an Americana singer songwriter hailing from Nottingham. Taking influence from the blues of the Mississippi Delta, the traditional folk of the Appalachian Mountains and the honky tonk from a Texas bar room, prepare for songs to make you dance, drink, cry and praise the lord in the space of a few minutes.

and four times the fun. Fantastic night with Jody Davies, Andy P. Davison, Richard Kitson and Ryan Farmer playing in the round at Shakespeares last night. We were expecting something special and they more than delivered that. Big thanks to them and everybody that made it along, if you didn’t you really don’t know what you missed.

WagonWheel Presents… heads to The Greystones on Monday night for the final time in 2017. We’re excited for the return of Wild Ponies, support from Mat Wale and it’s our 11th birthday too. Full details can be found here, we hope you can join us then.

Hard Feelings when a band “pulls something out of the back catalogue” for a run of tour dates. So good to hear Oil & Rain in a fine, fine set from Case Hardin at Shakespeares on Thursday night, which rounded off a great night of music following Paul McClure and A Prayer Away. Thanks to them and those that made it out to support live music.

WagonWheel Presents… returns to Shakespeares on Saturday October 28th for another special show. We’ll be joined by Jody Davies, Richard Kitson, Andy P. Davison and Ryan Farmer who’ll be playing “in the round”. Full details can be found here. Maybe we’ll see you there too?

On Saturday October 28th, WagonWheel Presents… brings a very special singer/songwriter night to Shakespeares. Appearing “in the round” will be Jody Davies (Fargo Railroad Co. / King Quentin), Andy P. Davison (Black Thunder Revue), Richard Kitson (Richard Kitson) and Nottingham artist Ryan Farmer completes the bill. Advance tickets priced at £6 are available from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/403009 or entry on the night will be £8. Doors open 8pm for an 8.30pm start.

***JODY DAVIES***

If being in three bands wasn’t enough, Jody Davies airs a more stripped down set of songs in a rare performance of his solo material. Tonight with just his vintage Gibson J-45 (you may know her as Dolly), expect raw, heartfelt songs and to hear one or two of the stories behind them.

***ANDY P. DAVISON***

When he’s not playing shows as part of The Black Thunder Revue, Andy flies solo with his trusty resonator guitar. The sound is rooted in Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll, but draws on many styles.

***RICHARD KITSON***

In a typical set Richard can be found playing classic country and delta blues covers  alongside his self-penned folk/blues style songs. A skilled raconteur, Kitson often embellishes his sets with humorous links and background stories to his songs.
