the best things come in small packages, and that once again proved to be the case last night with a sold out micro gig in the cosy confines of Hop Hideout with Andy P. Davison and Jody Davies, both ably assisted by double double bass man Andy Dye. Big thanks to them and all of you who joined us for the (mostly) unplugged show.

Next WagonWheel Presents… is back at The Greystones this coming Tuesday with Otis Gibbs plus support from Paul McClure. You can read the full preview for this show here. We hope you can join us then.

and counting, but last night everything added up to another great show at The Greystones. Thanks go to Rachel Harrington, Boss Caine, and everybody that joined us for what was our 100th show in The Backroom.

We’re there next on November 6th with Otis Gibbs plus Paul McClure, tickets are on sale here.

Before that though WagonWheel Presents… pays another visit to our favourite beer shop, when Andy P. Davison and Jody Davies play an unplugged show at Hop Hideout tomorrow night. Unfortunately if you’re not one of the lucky ticket holders, this has already sold out. You can take a look at what else we have coming up though over on the Gigs page. Maybe you can join us at one of those.

for an end of year round up, but i’m going to do one anyway.

2017 saw us take in 19 shows, featuring 46 different acts including 9 new faces to the WagonWheel stage. One of those was a brand new venue too with an unplugged special at Hop Hideout.

More of the same in 2018 then? We’ve got this lot lined up so far, including our second WagonWheel Weekender in March:

Thursday February 1st @ The Greystones : Quiet Loner (Battle For The Ballot show) + Kevin Titterton

Friday March 16th @ The Greystones : Rod Picott + Boss Caine

Saturday March 17th (afternoon) @ The Greystones : M&J Blues + Franc Cinelli + Andy P. Davison

Saturday March 17th (evening) @ The Greystones : The Fargo Railroad Co. + The Lucky Strikes + Franc Cinelli

Sunday March 18th (afternoon) @ The Greystones : A Prayer Away + Charlie Tophill + John Batchelor

Sunday March 18th (evening) @ The Greystones : Southern Tenant Folk Union + Paul Handyside

Saturday September 1st @ The Greystones : The BearCats + Bob Collum & The Welfare Mothers

Friday November 16th @ The Greystones : Richard Kitson + Ryan Farmer

I guess that’ll do for starters? Tickets for all February and March shows are available online at http://www.wegottickets.com/wagonwheelpresents and from the venue. Shows later in the year will be on sale soon. Thanks to everybody that joined us in 2017. Hope to see you for more again soon.

something special, and i certainly think that’s what happened last night. Big thanks to The Fargo Railroad Co. and Hop Hideout for a magic evening, and those of you who joined us for a feast of unplugged music and beer.

seems to be, that wasn’t bad? Felt like a pretty good Sunday to me, not least due to an outstanding bunch of live sets from Dave Woodcock & The Dead Comedians, Joe Solo, Ash Gray & The Burners, Franc Cinelli, The Black Thunder Revue, Quiet Loner, Killing Fields Of Ontario, Idiot Son, Paul Handyside, Rory Cannon, Mat Wale & Little Convoy, Colin Mounsey, Massy Ferguson and Dave Woodcock. Big thanks as always to all of them, and to everybody that came along to a busy day at Shakespeares for our Tramlines show.

Our next show sees us venture to the Hop Hideout for the first time on Friday August 4th for an unplugged performance from The Fargo Railroad Co. Unfortunately, unless you were one of the lucky few who secured a ticket within the first hour or so of them going on sale, this show is already sold out.

So your next chance to join us for a WagonWheel Presents… show will likely be on Friday August 11th when Rachel Harrington returns to The Greystones. We’ve also got an opening set from Paul McClure and full details can be found here, maybe we’ll see you there?

On Thursday November 1st, WagonWheel Presents… returns to Hop Hideout for another special night. We’ll be getting up close and personal with Andy P. Davison (The Black Thunder Revue) and Jody Davies (The Fargo Railroad Co. / King Quentin / A Prayer Away) in the intimate surrounds of the Abbeydale Road beer shop & tasting room for an unplugged acoustic performance. Due to the cosy confines of this unique venue, tickets are strictly limited and advance booking is highly recommended. When places are gone, they’ll be gone. Priced at £8 they will be on sale from http://www.wegottickets.com/wagonwheelpresents at 9am on Monday September 3rd. Doors for the event will be 7.45pm.

***ANDY P. DAVISON***

When he’s not playing shows as part of The Black Thunder Revue, Andy flies solo with his trusty resonator guitar. The sound is rooted in Blues and Rock ‘n’ Roll, but draws on many styles.

***JODY DAVIES***

If being in three bands wasn’t enough, Jody Davies airs a more stripped down set of songs in a rare performance of his solo material. Tonight with just his vintage Gibson J-45 (you may know her as Dolly), expect raw, heartfelt songs and to hear one or two of the stories behind them.

On Friday August 4th, WagonWheel Presents… joins forces with Hop Hideout for a very special gig. We’ll be getting up close and personal with The Fargo Railroad Co. in the intimate surrounds of the Abbeydale Road beer shop & tasting room. Whilst usually better known for their electrically charged live shows, for one night only they’ll be playing their Southern Rock & Americana influenced tunes completely unplugged and acoustic. You can expect all your usual live favourites, just played a little differently with no doubt a few more of the stories behind the songs too (you may even get chance to ask questions). Due to the cosy confines of this unique venue, tickets are strictly limited and advance booking is highly recommended. When places are gone, they’ll be gone. Priced at £8 they will be on sale from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/410130 at 9am on Monday July 10th. Doors for the event will be 8pm.

***THE FARGO RAILROAD CO.***

The Fargo Railroad Co. have gone from strength to strength since forming in 2013 and have steadily built a reputation as one of Sheffield’s hottest live acts. Drawing on a vast range of musical influences, from old school thrash metal to easy listening, jazz to blues, rock & funk to folk, country and bluegrass, they found common ground in the broad and deep ocean of Southern Rock. They released their debut album, live recording Sharing The Load, in early 2015 and had a busy summer of festival appearances. They rounded off 2015 with a sold out second birthday show and a live acoustic EP, before the end of 2016 saw them release their first full length studio album This One’s For You in front of another sell out crowd. 2017 sees them play both Maverick and SummerTyne festivals as well as a host of other dates around the country.
